# Docker

For users looking to run NostalgiaTV in a containerized environment, an official self-hosted companion server image is available for `amd64` and `arm64` architectures (PCs, Raspberry Pi 4/5, Synology/QNAP NAS, Apple Silicon Macs, and homelab servers).

#### ⚠️ Prerequisite Knowledge & Support Policy

> **Important Note on Container Support:**
>
> Setting up and running NostalgiaTV via Docker assumes that you already have a foundational understanding of Docker, container management, volume mapping, and networking configurations.
>
> **Support Scope:** Developer support is strictly limited to issues native to the `nostalgiatv-server` image itself. Assistance will **not** be provided for general Docker host setup, underlying OS troubleshooting, reverse proxies, or custom networking infrastructure.
>
> *Community-provided host or platform support may occasionally be found in the Discord server, but it should not be expected or assumed.*

#### ⚙️ What the Docker Server Provides

Running the Docker companion container unlocks additional server-side architecture and capabilities beyond the standalone Android client:

**🌐 Web Interface (`http://<server-ip>:19850`)**

* **/watch:** A browser-based player featuring a live TV guide matrix, inline playback engine, and on-demand browsing for Movies and TV Shows. Supports sign-ins via Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, or local accounts.
* **/configure:** Full browser management dashboard to edit Channels, Commercials, Groups, Schedules, Design, Profiles, Media Servers, and System Logs.

**📡 Media Backend Integration & Smart Sync**

* **Multi-Backend Aggregation:** Link any mix of Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby servers simultaneously.
* **Cross-Server Deduplication:** Automatically hides duplicate copies of the same show or movie across multiple backends using metadata mapping (TMDB/IMDb/TVDB) and server preference rankings.
* **HDHR/IPTV Tuner Emulation:** Acts as a virtual HDHomeRun tuner, allowing other apps (Plex DVR, Channels DVR, Jellyfin, TiviMate, etc.) to tune into your custom channel lineup.

**🎙️ Server-Exclusive Commercial Engine**

* **ffmpeg Silence Detection:** Executes server-side CPU-heavy silence scanning to automatically detect and insert mid-program commercial breaks without taxing low-power TV client hardware.
* **Cross-Backend Commercial Breaks:** Mix bumpers and commercials from different media backends (e.g., a Plex bumper leading into a Jellyfin ad clip) within a single break sequence.

**📅 30-Day Automated Scheduling**

* Pre-generates rolling 30-day program schedules using advanced sorting algorithms (`Random`, `Cyclic Shuffle`, `Block Shuffle`, `Block Cyclic`).
* Handles marathon insertion, premiere time slots for recently added server content, commercial padding, and age-based filtering rules automatically.
