# Content Groups

While standard NostalgiaTV channels pull from your broad server libraries, Content Groups allow you to curate specific, highly tailored blocks of programming. Whether you want to bundle an entire movie trilogy, create a back-to-back holiday specials block, or stack a collection of sequential miniseries, Content Groups give you total control over themed marathons.

### 🛠️ How to Create and Set Up a Content Group

Setting up a group is handled entirely through the Web Remote dashboard on your desktop browser.

1. Open the Web Remote, navigate to the Channel Customization tab, and find the Content Groups section.
2. Click the blue + Create Group button.
3. Name Your Group: Give your group a clear, recognizable title (e.g., *Middle Earth Marathon*).
4. Write a Description: Type a custom summary in the description box. This text will pass directly forward to your TV guide. When a user highlights this channel, your custom description instantly populates the primary info panel on their screen.
5. Add Content: Click + Add Items to search and select the specific movies, TV series, or specific episodes from your connected server that you want to include in the block.
6. Click Save Group to lock it in.

Once saved, this group will appear as a selectable source option when you build or edit your custom channels.

### 🔀 Playback & Shuffle Logic Modifiers

Once you have added your target video files or series blocks into a custom group container, you can dictate exactly how the network cycles through them using a simple toggle inside the configuration drawer:

#### Chronological Playback (Default)

By leaving shuffle turned off, the engine respects the exact sequential layout of the playlist container. The channel will stream the media files in a strict, step-by-step order—perfect for narrative-driven movie marathons or timeline-specific franchise blocks.

#### The Marathon Shuffle Override

Toggling the Shuffle items during playback switch completely changes the channel's behavior under the hood:

* Randomized Rotation: The broadcast engine completely ignores the fixed timeline order of the files inside the playlist pool.
* Instant Syndication: Every time the channel transitions to a new video file block, it randomly grabs an item from the curated group cluster. This instantly turns your Content Group into a localized, randomized syndication network, ensuring that channel surfing always feels unpredictable and fresh.
